The Transcarpathian correspondent of HírTV reported that even 17-year-olds would be registered in the military in Ukraine.
"The news caused quite a stir. Several people indicated that they received summonses and notices even at the age of 17. In practice, we can safely call them children," said the correspondent.
Due to the social indignation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces published an official announcement, in which it explains what it is all about. The official information says that they really admit that even 17-year-olds are asked and urged to appear at the recruiting offices immediately, because according to the law, young men must be registered in the military in Ukraine from the age of 17," reported György Dunda about the latest events in Ukraine.
He added that the statement indicated that although the young people are being registered, they are not being mobilized yet. However, men between the ages of 18 and 60 cannot leave the country.
What is also new is that those between the ages of 18 and 25 must undergo a six-month military training, after which the young people can be mobilized immediately.
The Karpáti Igaz Szó, based on the Unian news agency, quotes the communiqué of the command of the ground forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which points out that: in Ukraine, boys who have reached the age of 17 must apply to military auxiliary commands for enlistment
According to the announcement, military registration has nothing to do with military mobilization.
At the same time, they reminded that according to Article 14 of the Law on Military Service, Mobilization and Military Registration, Ukrainian youth must enlist in regional recruitment and social support centers from the age of seventeen. Registration takes place in January of each year.
The command pointed out that in order to be registered in the military, young Ukrainian men must apply in person at the recruitment office responsible for their place of residence within the deadline specified in the notice.
Documents specified by the Ministry of Defense must be submitted during registration.
Military auxiliary commands send invitations to those young people who for some reason failed to register.
