On Thursday, the jury found former US President Donald Trump guilty of all 34 charges in the criminal proceedings against him for falsifying business documents, following the payment of silence money. After announcing the decision, Donald Trump said that the real verdict will be given by the voters on November 5, i.e. the day of the election.

The jury's decision, presented in a New York court, ended a six-week series of trials. The defense has the right to appeal.

The 12-member jury came to a unanimous decision after a discussion lasting about 11 hours.

Judge Juan Merchan set the sentencing date for July 11, four days before the start of the Republican Party's presidential nominating convention, where the party's presidential nominee will be announced.

After the jury's verdict was announced, Donald Trump called the entire impeachment trial fraudulent in court, which, in his opinion, was initiated by the Biden administration in order to harm his political opponent.

The unofficial Republican presidential candidate called the Democratic district attorney who initiated the charges, Alkvin Bragg, a "Soros-backed prosecutor" and said that the real verdict will be given by the voters on November 5, which is Election Day.

The campaign team of US President Joe Biden and unofficial Democratic presidential candidate responded in a statement to the jury's decision, according to which the New York trial showed that no one is above the law. "Donald Trump mistakenly believed he would never face the consequences of breaking the law for his own benefit," the statement read, adding that "there is only one way to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office: at the ballot box."

Supporters and counter-protesters of Donald Trump gathered in front of the courthouse on Thursday. A small scuffle broke out between the two groups before the police separated them.

“Import the third world, become the third world. We just saw this. This will not stop Trump," said American right-wing opinion leader Tucker Carlson on his social media page.

According to Carlson, all this will still not be enough to disable the Republican politician before the presidential election. “This is the end of the fairest justice system in the world.

Anyone who defends this judgment is a danger to you and your family.”

Donald Trump can even be elected while in prison

According to the US Constitution and competent constitutional lawyers, nothing prevents a convicted person from running for president. And according to the Supreme Court's decision the other day, individual member states cannot decide to individually exclude a candidate because of this, as several American member states tried to do against Trump in previous months.

According to this, Donald Trump will be able to be elected even while sitting in prison,

and you might even win the election anyway. If this were to happen, it would be an unprecedented development in American law and constitutional law based on precedent, writes Mandiner .

According to some experts, if he becomes president, he could simply pardon himself and the legal situation could be settled.

Regardless of the current jury decision, the other three major lawsuits against Donald Trump will continue in the next period.
