While hundreds of thousands are marching in Budapest today on the Peace March, the Parisians have announced a flash mob with a splash in the Sejna, and moreover, timed for President Macron's promised swim. It will be mind blowing when it comes to fruition…

Some Parisians are preparing to protest against the HUF 5.3 billion state-sponsored investment aimed at cleaning up the Seine before next month's Olympic Games, The Washington Times .

A group of activists is organizing a protest called the "sz@rflashmob" to be held at the river on the day that President Emmanuel Macron and Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo vowed to swim in it.

thereby demonstrating the success of the government's efforts. The #JeChieDansLaSeineLe23Juin , which translates to "I'll enter the Seine on June 23" , gained space on the X social media platform after the announcement of the date of the swim, wrote Metro. They also launched a website with the same name,

on which participants can register the locations where they plan to empty.

A poster promoting the event, circulating on social media, reads:

"On Sunday, June 23, we are expecting many people to come and empty themselves into the Seine!".

They mention that you don't need to book and entry is free and the venue is Pont Marie in the 4th arrondissement. Social media was flooded with memes reacting to the protest. Among the more family-friendly images is an AI-generated image of toilets set up by the "City of Paris" on the banks of the Seine. Another doctored image shows Macron standing on a bridge over a river full of excrement.

The protest comes amid efforts to clean up the Seine, which aims to make the Seine swimmable again, as it was during the 1900 Paris Olympics. Last summer, a pre-Olympic swimming competition in the river was canceled due to a sewage problem. When asked by reporters if he would swim the Seine, Macron confirmed that he would, but did not give a specific date and joked that it would discourage participants.
