In the last months of the billion-dollar pyramid scheme, the lawyer provided assistance to the criminal gang that defrauded countless victims.
Before the billion-dollar pyramid scheme that ensnared the entire country collapsed years ago, Péter Magyar's right-hand man, S. Mária, persuaded a lawyer to help the beneficiaries of the series of frauds, the court documents read.
All of this clearly shows the degree to which S. Mária - who is the mother of Magyar's current partner - was involved in criminal transactions.
The documents reveal that the woman also introduced the lawyer to the leader of the criminal gang, who later also became an accused.
After that, the man "undertook himself to assist in some cases as a document-editing lawyer in some transactions carried out by the first-rate defendant and his associates", reads the judgment, which also states that the lawyer "prepared and signed several loan agreements, real estate mortgage agreements and other documents against, which - based on what was determined by F. Attila and his colleagues - typically did not reflect the actual agreement between the parties and the real flow of money".
The court also recorded that the lawyer himself suggested to some of the victims that they invest in the opportunity offered by the first defendant.
It is known that the threads of the fraud series go back to the 2010s. That's when a pair of twins from Nagykáta decided to build a pyramid scheme spanning the entire country. The gang, which included S. Mária, the confidant of Péter Magyar, beat up countless people, including well-known people and underworld figures. The organization managed by the twins collected nearly eight billion forints, promising a good investment, but hardly anything was found from the money that was presumably sent abroad.
A final decision was made in the case in 2018, the mastermind of the fraud scandal was sentenced to eleven years, F. Attila is currently in prison, but he may be released soon.
Péter Magyar's confidant has been free for some time, but previously he also spent several years in prison after being sentenced to four years for multiple counts of fraud committed in a criminal conspiracy, as a business, as an accomplice and other crimes.
According to the final judgment, S. Mária caused a total of HUF 350 million in damage.
In addition, according to the data of the procedure, the woman continued the deals and beat the victims even after Attila F., with whom she had a close relationship, was arrested in 2012.
