The National Theater will host the event on Tuesday from 11 a.m., according to the theater's website. As recalled, at the request of Attila Vidnyánszky, the general manager of the theater, textile designer Melinda Kustán created her concept for the design and construction of the theater's new curtain in 2019.
The 167-square-meter textile depicting the tree of life is made using the embroidery motifs of 64 Hungarian landscape units in countless places in the Carpathian Basin. On the day of national unity, not only the embroiderers who are already participating in the work process, but also the artists and employees of the National Theater and all registered guests can embroider into the large curtain that is being prepared. Appointments can be booked on the theatre's website.
Anyone who visits the National Theater on Tuesday can get an insight into the complex visual arts and logistics work that has been going on for five years. At 11 a.m., the project will be presented to those interested, who can then get involved in the work at the time selected during registration.
After the event, the embroiderers will take part in a behind-the-scenes tour and then watch a performance by Attila Vidnyánszky based on the work of the same name by Albert Wass and contemporary documents entitled Thirteen Apple Trees, according to the website.
