Almost half of the German population fears a terrorist attack during the European football championship starting next Friday, MTI reports citing a research.

A representative survey of the population revealed that 12 percent consider the situation extremely worrying, while 35 percent called the Euro arrangement worrisome from a security point of view.

24 percent of those surveyed are less afraid of a terrorist act, 12 percent do not see it as likely at all, and 16 percent did not want to take a position on the topic.

During the European Championship, around 2.7 million people will watch the matches in the stadiums, and 12 million people will watch the broadcasts from the fan zones.

The survey to assess the public's interest also ended with interesting results. According to this, 27 percent of Germans are not at all interested in the continental tournament, 43 percent follow the events with special attention, and 28 percent proved to be moderately interested.
