The US Embassy recommends that US citizens who also hold Ukrainian citizenship do not enter the country. The reason for this is that even dual citizens and those with residence permits in other countries cannot leave Ukraine.

According to Meduza, President Zelensky further tightened the rules on the freedom of movement of his citizens in Ukraine . The Ukrainian authorities have already revoked the travel permits of persons with dual citizenship living abroad. The State Border Service announced on June 4 that

those with residence permits in other countries and Ukrainian men aged 18-60 cannot leave the country."

Neither out nor in

The US Embassy in Kyiv published a message on its website on Tuesday for US citizens who also hold Ukrainian citizenship. According to the message, from June 1, men between the ages of 18 and 60 with dual Ukrainian-American citizenship, including those living in the USA, cannot leave Ukraine. The embassy strongly recommends that US citizens who also hold Ukrainian citizenship do not travel to Ukraine.

The embassy emphasized that there is a very high risk of not being able to leave the country, even if they have an American passport.
