On Friday afternoon, the recount of the invalid votes cast in the mayoral election was completed at the National Election Office. The Index was informed that Gergely Karácsony still won the election, albeit by a very small margin.
Index , in today's recount, more than 500 votes were found that were originally declared invalid, but were actually valid. The vast majority of these votes increased Dávid Vitézy's number of votes, but there were also a smaller number of votes cast for Gergely Karácsony.
As a result, the difference between the candidates decreased,
but in the end Gergely Karácsony won by a small margin, with only 54 votes.

At its June 12 meeting, the National Electoral Commission ordered the recount of the invalid votes in the mayoral election. In the committee's decision, he referred to the fact that, based on the evidence, it can be reasonably assumed that there are a large number of votes declared invalid, which should be considered valid according to the provisions of the Act on Election Procedures.
