At the Swiss peace conference, several aspects of the Russian-Ukrainian war were discussed, but the parties did not come closer to peace, and the ideas are not mutually exclusive.

The basic situation of the Russian-Ukrainian war that started two years ago is that it was clearly started by Russia, but provoked by Ukraine, said György Nógrádi. However, in the current situation, Zelenskiy wants to push through a ten-point plan that has no reality, the security policy expert pointed out.

The Ukrainian president's peace formula contains elements ranging from the five hundred billion euro Russian reparation to the return of Crimea and Ukraine's accession to NATO, which are unimaginable in the light of the balance of power, he added.

Emmanuel Macron stated in Switzerland: it is not possible to conclude a peace in Ukraine that would involve the capitulation of the country. We are all determined to achieve lasting peace. This cannot be the capitulation of the Ukrainians. There is an aggressor and there is a victim, said the French president.

The Russian president announced a peace plan one day before the Swiss peace conference. Vladimir Putin said that the egoism and arrogance of the Western countries led to the current situation, and he also explained the conditions of the peace negotiations.

Ukrainian troops must be withdrawn from the entire territory of the new Russian regions, and Kiev must declare that it does not plan to join NATO. These conditions are needed to start peace negotiations. Putin stated that if these conditions were met, Russia would immediately begin a ceasefire and begin negotiations.

"Only those who do not want peace cannot understand Putin's proposals for Ukraine," Marija Zaharova emphasized. Before the beginning of the peace conference in Switzerland, the Russian foreign affairs spokesman told the TASSZ that if they "want to save the world" there, they would have to discuss Putin's proposals.

György Nógrádi said that at least 15 countries canceled their participation before the Swiss peace conference and Switzerland's mediating role, and the Swiss head of state himself stated that the meeting would make no sense without Russia. On the first day of the meeting, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also emphasized that Russia must participate in the peace process.

It must be admitted: peace cannot be achieved without the involvement of Russia, the German Chancellor declared.

- China developed its own peace plan with Brazil, and China already informed the organizers of the Swiss peace summit in advance that they would only participate with a lower-level delegation, and later (because Ukraine attacked the Asian power by saying that it clearly supports Russia) it was also canceled - continued György Nógrádi .

This was therefore a peace summit in which two of the five permanent members of the Security Council, China and Russia, as well as the President of the United States, Joe Biden, personally did not participate, despite previous close programs, the expert pointed out.

- Zelenskiy later clearly presents this as a success, since he previously met with Macron and Biden in France, and then at the G7 summit in Italy, further decisions were made on further support for Ukraine. From there, he went to the peace conference in Switzerland, where, however, there was no other real peace plan besides the Ukrainian peace plan, he added.

This is where we are now: the war continues, the Russian, Ukrainian and Western ideas about possible peace are not in a relationship of thanks to each other - concluded György Nógrádi.
