Ferenc Gyurcsány appeared after the large jacket, tried to explain his party's defeat with a meaningless example, and then talked about his resignation.
The president of the Democratic Coalition (DK) appeared after more than a week and spoke with mimed openness about the huge defeat suffered in last Sunday's municipal and European Parliament elections.
It would be a pity to chisel the matter, because it can be stated simply: we suffered a defeat at the end of last week
Ferenc Gyurcsány said in his new video uploaded to his social media page.
The president of the DK said: in his opinion, after the defeat, questions such as why what happened happened?, why did they suffer a defeat?, who are responsible?, will someone resign? After that, the party chairman mysteriously stated,
you don't have to be angry about the questions, but you have to consider the answers, of course. This is what we do
he declared. After that, Gyurcsány tried to explain the huge fall of the Democratic Coalition and its allied micro-parties with a confusing example, which, according to him, had nothing to do with the changing mood of opposition in public life and did not serve as an explanation for the advance of Péter Magyar's party.
Ferenc Gyurcsány then spoke about how
negotiations within the party are still taking place, as part of which they jointly evaluate the huge defeat on June 9.
However, the president of the party, which has failed in elections for more than ten years in a row, did not say in his video whether he would resign and compared understanding his party's tactics to installing a new mobile phone, claiming that further fine-tuning was needed. However, at the end of his video, the former prime minister could not stand it and declared: "I will come back", based on this, it can hardly be expected that he will resign from the party presidency.
As a reminder, the DK–MSZP–Párbeszéd alliance received eight percent of the votes in this year's EP elections, and a total of three fewer EP representatives can be sent to Brussels than in 2019.
