In the corruption scandal in Óbuda, a well-founded suspicion of the crime of accepting an official bribe arose. Five more people were suspected in the case, two of them were detained. It is a sum of 100 million.

According to Index information, in the framework of the investigation of the corruption case in Óbuda, in addition to the arrest of Gergő Czeglédy, deputy mayor of Óbuda-Békás County, among the five new suspects interrogated is the senior official of the Békás County Market, who was also detained yesterday by the Central Prosecutor's Office.

The leftist deputy mayor of Óbuda was detained

According to the former mayor of Óbuda, it is Dániel Krébesz. During the 72-hour detention, i.e. during these hours, the Central Investigative Prosecutor's Office can make a motion to initiate their arrest to the Metropolitan Court.

A classified bribe may have taken place in his investigation of corruption crimes. According to the well-founded suspicion, a man - as the managing director of two commercial companies engaged in advertising activities - using his companies

he paid more than one hundred million forints to the deputy mayor

in order to use his official position to intercede in order to grant the necessary permits and consent for the survival, further use and exploitation of the advertising equipment.

In order to conceal the origin and purpose of the bribe money, the managing director of the advertising companies concluded fictitious contracts with several economic companies created for this purpose. In reality, the companies did not provide the service written in the sham contracts, nor did they perform any related activities, which was not even the intention of the parties when the contracts were concluded.

The investigative prosecutor's office reported the suspicion of the crime of acceptance of an official bribe committed in a criminal conspiracy and in a business-like manner by the person in a senior position who had just been interrogated, abusing his privileged official position. This means that the deputy mayor was the culprit, and the other suspects - who were the executives of the straw companies - could have been accomplices.

The spokesperson of the Central Investigative General Prosecutor's Office neither denied nor confirmed that Mayor László Kiss was also interviewed in the case.

According to Index information, the leading official of the Békásmegyeri Piac was the campaign manager of László Kiss,

and previously he also played an important role in the 2022 campaign of the Óbuda representative of the Párbeszéd.

Currently, Gergő Czegéldy supervises the legal operation of BKK from prison. Its recall is also the competence of this board, but Mayor Gergely Karácsony previously indicated that he does not plan to convene a regular board meeting before October 1.
