The newspaper understands that the detention is a direct consequence of the fact that the Central Prosecutor's Office carried out a coordinated action on Tuesday at the Óbuda municipality in its ongoing investigation into alleged bribery and other crimes.
The Prosecutor General's Office informed MTI on Tuesday that they are investigating corruption crimes, which are currently being investigated at several locations, including III. Procedural actions are ongoing at the district municipality. More detailed information on the matter is expected to be given on Wednesday.
The prosecutor's office already held a similar campaign in March, when it was announced that four people had been detained. According to the well-founded suspicion, a man entered into fictitious contracts for the provision of services and equipment purchases through his company in 2021 with the municipality of Óbuda and with two business companies designated by one of the suspect's associates.
The municipality reacted
The Óbuda-Békásmegy Municipality issued a statement in response to the house search, according to which the staff of the Office cooperated with the prosecutor's office in everything, and the documents requested by them were handed over in full.
They described that, according to the prosecutor's office, the investigation is taking place in the same case, in connection with which documents were already requested from the municipality in March.
The prosecutor's office says in its statement that 40 officials, including members of the Emergency Police, are participating in the action, but according to the Óbuda-Békás County Municipality, only five officials were present in its building.
