Hungary cannot support the extension of the mandate of the President of the European Commission.

Arriving at the two-day EU summit, Viktor Orbán announced regarding the selection of the next president of the European Commission: when there was a change of government in Poland, which was "always supported" by the means of the rule of law from Brussels, and many, "minimum dubious" changes were made, the European Commission did not say a word he said.

"When I asked in a letter whether what the new Polish government did in Poland, we Hungarians should also do, they didn't even give me an answer. So, according to our understanding, the chairman of such a committee cannot remain in his place," he said.

He also announced: the European People's Party (EPP), the socialists and the liberals have created a coalition to appoint the next leaders of the institutions of the European Union, which is "a party coalition of lies and deception".

The agreement was established on a party basis, not based on programs, past performance, or future plans. Power sharing was specifically implemented, he emphasized.

"I have to describe the agreement of the People's Party, the Socialists and the Liberals as shameful," he said.

The People's Party collected part of the right-wing votes and then took them to the left, thus deceiving European voters, he pointed out. This is an affront to the European electorate, most of whom voted for the right and wanted to see a right-wing European leadership.

"There is no reason for us to support this abuse of power," he underlined.

Regarding the country-specific recommendations for Hungary made in EU reports, he said: "we take them all as praise." These are important tools of Hungarian economic policy, they contribute to the fact that Hungarian economic growth is well above the European Union average.

"Hungarian success comes from this. They want to take this success away from us, but unfortunately we cannot give it to them," he said.

Regarding the half-year Hungarian presidency of the Council of the European Union starting on July 1st, he emphasized: the program of the Hungarian presidency is about competitiveness and economic growth, which everyone supports. In addition, Hungary wants peace and an end to illegal migration.

95 percent of our program is supported by the big countries, Viktor Orbán added.
