The presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden took place in the United States. During the debate, which was not of a very high standard, the candidates outwitted and lied to each other. At the same time, the outcome of the debate seems clear: not only two-thirds of the American registered voters, but also according to the liberals, Donald Trump won the battle.

It is striking that the Anglo-Saxon mainstream media is not stingy with adjectives criticizing Biden:

according to CNN, Biden performed "weakly", the president's performance was "painful" to watch,

the portal , Biden was a "disaster" and a "train wreck".

According to a leading article by the liberal NBC News, some Democrats called for Biden to step back and "throw in the towel," and Biden "justified the fears of some voters."

According to the BBC, Joe Biden was "uncertain" and "struggling" until Trump went on the offensive;

and Democrats go into “disaster relief” mode

after the discussion.

The Hill writes about : the Democrats are in "full panic" mode after Biden's "falling" speech - the Mandiner reviewed the liberal papers .

Among the topics were the economy, immigration, the issue of abortion and the Russian-Ukrainian war, according to the Magyar Nemzet .

The first debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden began at nine in the evening according to American East Coast time, and at dawn on Friday at home. The debate took place at the CNN studios in Atlanta, Georgia.

The first question was about the high cost of living, which Joe Biden immediately blamed on his predecessor, who he said he inherited an economy in "free fall." He emphasized his working-class background and assured viewers that he was "working hard" to solve problems.

He wants to build two million new apartments, and would limit rents, Biden promised. He reminded her that she lowered the price of prescription drugs, which was a problem for many.

The presenter asked Trump about the tax cuts. The former president put it this way: the tax cut stimulated the largest economy ever, right before the coronavirus epidemic, and even after Covid, it was so strong that we were able to survive the epidemic much better than any other country, the Republican politician added. .

We got more revenue with much less tax. The country performed like never before, he underlined.

An important and divisive topic in the United States is the issue of abortion. Donald Trump said that he would refer it back to the states. He added that he would not ban the abortion pill if elected.

Biden thinks it's a terrible idea for states to regulate abortion.

Migration and border protection

The issue of border protection was also an important point of the debate. In this regard, Donald Trump said: America had the safest border, but Biden decided to open our border, to open our country to people from prisons and mental institutions, to terrorists. He emphasized: most terrorists are currently coming to America. Terrorists from all over the world, not just South America, but the Middle East, everywhere.

We no longer have borders, every state has become a border state, Trump pointed out. The illegal immigrants that Biden let in are killing American citizens.

I call this Biden's migrant crime, said the former president, referring to the murders that have made a big splash in recent days, including the killing of a 12-year-old girl.

We are literally an uncivilized country, Trump said, urging mass deportations before illegal immigrants destroy the country. He accused Biden of not caring about the military, the American veterans who are "dying in the streets."

In response to Trump's claims that the president has low support among veterans, Biden said "everything he said is a lie." We have a lot of respect for veterans, he said.

Biden also recalled one of the controversial moments of Trump's presidency, in which he reportedly said that fallen American soldiers were "losers and losers."

My son was not a loser and not a loser, he said. You're the guy. You are the loser, he added, addressing the former president. Trump responded that the quote was a fabrication and that he never said it. No one took better care of our soldiers than I did, he added.

The quote attributed to him was just as fabricated as the rumors of collusion with the Russians and the case where 51 intelligence agents claimed that the laptop left by Hunter Biden, the president's son, at the repair shop was Russian disinformation. It wasn't, the laptop really belonged to the president's son, Trump asserted.

Wars in the world

So far, the questions have focused on American affairs, but Afghanistan and the chaotic withdrawal of the United States from Kabul have already come up.

"When we pulled out, it was the most embarrassing day in the history of our country," Trump said. Biden is the worst commander-in-chief, if you can even call him that, he noted.

He emphasized that if he had remained the president, Putin would not have attacked Ukraine. Lots of people died and Biden did nothing to stop it, even encouraging Russia to invade.

He completely mishandled the situation in Afghanistan, which is "the most embarrassing moment in the history of our country," and did not fire a single general because of the fiasco, he accused Biden. America lost 13 soldiers - he referred to the victims of the suicide attack during the withdrawal - and also left behind billions of dollars worth of equipment and even American citizens, said the former president. And this was an encouragement for Putin.

The massacre of the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas on October 7 could not have happened during his presidency either, because by isolating Iran, he would have ensured that there was no money to support Hamas.

Iran attacked American troops, and Trump did nothing, Biden accused his predecessor, adding that more than a hundred thousand Americans and other citizens were brought out of Afghanistan. According to him, it was Trump who encouraged Putin.

Putin's terms are not acceptable, Trump said, adding that this war should never have started. Biden gave Ukraine two hundred billion dollars or more, which is a lot of money.

He called Zelenskyi the greatest businessman ever, because every time he comes to America, he always leaves with sixty billion dollars. We shouldn't be spending this money on war, Trump emphasized, and he also promised that if he is elected, he will stop the war even before he takes office on January 20.

Putin is a war criminal and his goal is to restore the former Soviet empire, Biden emphasized. He wants all of Ukraine, and he won't stop there.

And by the way, all the money we give to Ukraine comes from weapons made here in the United States. We give them the weapons, not the money, Biden said, adding that the NATO member states also support the country at war with the same amount of money.

In the debate, Biden defended Washington's foreign policy achievements in the Middle East and Afghanistan after Trump took aim at both. And on Ukraine, he claimed that Trump told Putin to do "whatever he wants."

According to Biden, Putin thought he could take Kiev "within five days." In fact, he didn't. Thousands and thousands have been lost, Biden emphasized.

In response, Trump said: he never said that.

Turning to the situation in the Middle East, Biden said that it is Hamas that wants the war to continue because it refuses to accept the three-phase ceasefire plan. They are "trying hard to get" them to do so.

The only thing he refused Israel was a shipment of one-ton bombs because they would kill a lot of people if they were dropped on a populated area. It also provides Israel with all the weapons it needs.

Biden boasted that after the Iranian missile attack on Israel, he was the one who "organized the world against Iran" and saved Israel.

At the same time, according to Trump, European countries put much less money into the war in Ukraine than the United States. Why didn't Biden get them to do their part, like he did with NATO, Trump asked.

Israel is the one who wants good, the former president stated. He should be allowed to finish what he started. According to him, Biden is a "weak Palestinian."

Biden then accused Trump of wanting to withdraw from NATO, even though America's strength lies in its alliances. He ranted that the Republican politician would start a nuclear war by allowing Putin to gain control of Ukraine, because then he would attack Poland, which is a NATO member state, so Article 5 applies to him.

He got fifty other countries to support Ukraine, including Japan and South Korea, Biden boasted, adding that no major European war has ever remained in Europe.

Trump did not give a clear answer in the debate about whether he would support the creation of an independent Palestinian state. He says the main problem right now is that America is "spending all the money" and "killing" it on trade. He made great trade agreements with European nations, Trump emphasized.

Biden can now play with NATO only because he persuaded the Europeans to give hundreds of billions of dollars, Trump pointed out. Now everyone's bills are paid by the United States again, he pointed out.

Dirty business

Joe Biden also spoke about the events following the last election. According to him, Trump "encouraged" the protesters at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021. He said the former president did nothing for "three hours" while then-Vice President Mike Pence "begged" him to do something and end the siege.

Instead, he spoke about how these people are great patriots of America, underlined Biden, who said that the rebels should be in prison. In response, Trump said: Biden ruined the lives of innocent people.

He also attacked the House committee investigating Trump's role in the unrest at the Capitol. He called the panel a "committee without authority" and claimed that information from the investigation had been deleted.

Donald Trump also mentioned Hunter Biden's criminal case and suggested that President Biden should also be convicted of his horrific conduct as president "as soon as he leaves office." This man is a criminal, Trump said of Biden.

Biden responded that it was "outrageous" that his behavior was being equated with Trump's.

Regarding the recently concluded hush money lawsuit against Trump, Biden accused his predecessor of having "the morals of a stray cat." The former president denied sleeping with porn actress Stormy Daniels. A senior Justice Department official was transferred to the Manhattan prosecutor's office in connection with the trial, and both the judge and the prosecutors were Democrats.

Biden thought he could hurt him this way, but he achieved the exact opposite because people saw through the sieve, Trump said. The public knows that this is a scam and that Biden is hunting his political opponent because he cannot win fairly, he stated.

Trump faces even more legal proceedings, retorted Biden. As he said, he joined the fight for the presidency because of the death of his son, because of Iraq, and according to Trump, he has no sense of American democracy.

According to Donald Trump, however, Joe Biden ran for president because it was his last chance.

He is not fit to be president, he said of Biden, who is "the worst president in the history of our country." In response, Biden said he ran because he was worried that a man like Trump would be elected. He rubbed it under his opponent's nose that even his own former vice-president does not support his current candidacy.

After the commercial break, in the CNN studio, the current US president was asked about the disappointment of American voters of color in the country. They say they have seen no progress on a number of issues. Biden responded by saying he didn't blame them for their disappointment, but said there had been improvements for many of them, including a reduction in housing segregation. We will do much more for them, he said.

He added that in order to preserve the solvency of the social security system, "the very rich should start paying their fair share." According to the Democratic president, Trump would cut Social Security and Medicare benefits.

Trump was also asked about the climate crisis and the devastating effects of extreme heat, and what steps he would take in the matter if elected. He replied that he wanted clean air and water.

And it had, he said, claiming his government had achieved "the best environmental performance ever".

But Biden disputed Trump's claims, noting that the United States withdrew from the Paris climate accord during Trump's presidency.

Trump says Biden is lying like no one has ever lied. He accused his successor of having handled the issue of veterans' care very badly and of destroying the social security system. While illegal immigrants can live in luxury hotels, veterans live on the streets, which is amazing, Trump said.

The former president also mentioned The Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich, who was detained in Russia while doing his journalistic work. Donald Trump claims Biden didn't do enough to free him. He said that he would release him before he took office if he won the presidency.

In relation to the drug crisis, Trump said that the situation was resolved with the onset of the pandemic, when more and more drugs began to flow into the country through the border. According to Biden, during his presidency he tried to increase the detection of drugs, especially fentanyl, at the border. It also cooperates with Mexico and Asian countries, where raw materials for fentanyl production are made.

The current president was also asked about his age and the fact that he will be 86 at the end of his second term - he is, after all, the oldest president ever to be inaugurated. Acknowledging that he is often criticized for his age, the president retorted that Trump is "three years younger and much less competent."

According to Biden, Trump is whining and can't take defeat, even though no court has confirmed his doubts about the outcome of the 2020 election. At the same time, he questioned whether Trump would accept the results of the 2024 election. The former president would be 82 at the end of his second term, but said he feels as good as he did 25 to 30 years ago. In the debate, he underlined: if the election is fair, legal and good, of course he accepts its result.

World War III is near

We are closer to World War III than anyone thinks, warned Donald Trump. Dictators like North Korea's Kim Jong-un or China's Xi Jinping do not respect or fear Biden, he added. According to Joe Biden, America is needed to protect the world because its own security is at stake. According to him, the war would be brought about by allowing Putin to attack Kiev without resistance.

After another commercial break, Joe Biden was given two minutes for his closing speech. In it, the current president focused on political change. He talked about his efforts to lower the price of insulin and pledged to help families get affordable child care. He also promised to reduce inflation, a key issue for many Americans.

He emphasized that he also wants to keep taxes low for ordinary Americans, but at the same time claimed that Trump will raise them.

In his closing speech, Donald Trump said that Joe Biden had damaged the international reputation of the country and made the situation of the United States uncertain.

The Democratic president's policies on Iran enabled the terrorist attack on Israel, and he emphasized that the war in Ukraine should never have happened.

We lived in hell for three and a half years, Trump said of Biden's presidency.

According to him, because of Biden, "the whole country is exploding" because they are not respected. He talked about the wave of anti-Israel protests sweeping the United States after the October 7 attack, as well as the achievements of his own presidency in the fields of economy and health care.

We are a bankrupt country - concluded Trump, at the same time promising to change this and "make America great again".
