A fund-raising campaign was announced to support the churches of the Hungarian Johannites in Subcarpathia.

The Hungarian Chapter of the Johannite Order is launching a large-scale charity campaign, which, on the 100th anniversary of its foundation, is looking for supporters to support one hundred Subcarpathian churches, because due to the protracted Russian-Ukrainian war, it is becoming increasingly difficult for the churches in Subcarpathia to provide electricity and heating to the churches.

According to the announcement, "Let 100 bells ring for peace!" The aim of the campaign is to cover the overhead costs of the churches in the next few years and "not a single bell should fall silent".

"The protracted Russo-Ukrainian war drastically changed the everyday life of the Transcarpathian villages and towns: there were hardly any men left in the settlements, many families fled to Hungary or Western Europe, mostly the elderly and pensioners remained at home. All this has an impact on the life of the Transcarpathian congregations. Since the Soviet period, the maintenance of the churches has been ensured by the purse money, i.e. the donations of the members of the congregation. But since some of the believers were forced to leave their homes because of the war, it is becoming more and more difficult for them to ensure the heating and electricity supply of the churches, and it is feared that the bells will be silenced in more and more settlements in the next period," quoted István Tomcsányi, Hungarian Hungarian Order of Johannites, in the announcement. The commanding officer of his division.

They explained that there are bells in 101 Reformed churches in Subcarpathia, and about the same number of Roman Catholic and 37 Greek Catholic churches say mass in Hungarian.

budapest-johannita.hu/adomany , the organization lists the one hundred Subcarpathian settlements whose congregations can be helped in a targeted manner, among them are, for example, the churches of Feketepatak, Huszt and Nagydobrony, which belong to the Beregszász district, with just over a thousand people, but also the churches of larger cities as Ungvár or Beregszász.

Donations can be made by credit card on the site, but donations are also accepted to the bank account of the Hungarian Chapter of the Johannite Order, with the name of the selected settlement or Transcarpathia in the notice.

"The donation of those who do not indicate a specific settlement at the time of the transfer will be delivered to the congregations most in need and in greatest trouble," said István Tomcsányi, adding that donations can also be made at the Hungarian Johannites' event on Margaret Island on June 30. the support.
