If the former American president is re-elected, he would make an agreement with Russia within the framework of a so-called NATO plan, which would also include the transfer of Ukrainian territories, the American edition of Politico reported.
The paper learned from two security policy experts close to Donald Trump about what the former president might be planning. According to the plan, NATO would undertake to stop further expansion to the east - this can be interpreted primarily in relation to Ukraine and Georgia -,
and they would negotiate with Vladimir Putin about how much Ukrainian territory Moscow could keep for itself.
All of this is in line with a press report published a few months ago, which also talks about Donald Trump's plans for peace. It stated that the former president could cede the Crimean peninsula and the territories of the Donbass to the Russians in return for peace.
"A quick resolution of the two-and-a-half-year-old conflict in Ukraine is likely to also play a key role in Trump's plans for NATO"
- was highlighted in the Politico article. They also emphasized that if he wins the election, Trump can withdraw security guarantees from the countries of the alliance that spend less than two percent of their GDP on defense (the former president himself spoke about this earlier).
"Truth be told, it is unlikely that Trump will completely withdraw from NATO... But even if he does not formally withdraw from the organization, this does not mean that NATO will survive Trump's second term unscathed," the article reads. However, according to the newspaper's sources
THE UNITED STATES WOULD KEEP ITS NUCLEAR UMBRELLA OVER EUROPE DURING TRUMP'S SECOND CYCLE, IN ADDITION TO ITS AIR FORCE, BASES IN GERMANY, ENGLAND AND TURKEY, AS WELL AS ITS NAVAL FORCES.
However, most of the infantry, armor, logistics and artillery may eventually be transferred from American to European hands, Politico wrote.
