Thirty-eight years ago, the tragic Csilla Molnár, the winner of the 1985 beauty contest, died. In addition to his photos, songs, books and films preserve his memory.
"Dream, princess, as in the fairy tale, so peacefully! Dream on, princess, it was a dream that you lived! You are a dream for us too today" are the lines of Sándor Homonyik's song Dream, princess, in memory of Csilla Molnár, Hungary's 1985 Beauty. After half a century, in 1985, a beauty contest was held in Hungary. However, nine months after winning the 1985 Miss Hungary, Csilla Molnár ended her life.
Csilla Molnár was born on January 20, 1969 in Kaposvár, but lived in Fonyód with her parents and younger brother. For the 1985 competition, singles between the ages of 16 and 27 and taller than 160 centimeters were expected to apply. Csilla stated that she entered at the suggestion of a classmate, she just started playing, and the then 16-year-old didn't think she could win.
More than 600 of the 2,000 applicants were invited to the semi-finals, which were held in several parts of the country. From there, Csilla Molnár was the first to move on in a tie, and in the semi-final she reached fourth place.
On October 5, the final was held at the Budapest Congress Center. Of the 25 girls who reached the finals, the girl from Fonyód, who still wanted to graduate and study as a beautician, received by far the highest score. With this, he won a Pierre Cardin suit, a three-day trip to Vienna, a gift package, and Centrum's HUF 50,000 advertising contract offer, which he later did not accept. A trip to Cairo was also included among the prizes, but in this regard he stated that his father was against the offers and that he would have to consult with him.
In the end, he did not make it to the road. But in order to be able to fulfill the duties associated with victory, he became a private student.
She was also able to compete in the 1986 Miss Europe competition, where a total of 24 contestants participated. The preparation was held in Munich, and the competition was held on February 18 in Malta. Based on the scores, she finished in first place, but there was a tie for second and third place, so the jury re-ranked the five contestants, and the Hungarian beauty ended up third.
The Fonyód high school girl committed suicide on July 10, 1986. He took twenty-four of his father's heart medications, and unfortunately the arriving ambulances could no longer save him. In his farewell letter, he wrote that he couldn't take it anymore, that he should be forgiven and that he loved his father.
The news of her death came during the semi-finals of Miss Hungary 1985. The competition was stopped, and the next Hungarian beauty pageant was held only in 1989.
Not only Sándor Homonyik, but also Első Emelet commemorated the tragic beauty queen with the song "Szépek szépe ballad".
