They tried to favor the party of Péter Magyar.
Incorrect conclusions in the IDEA Institute's survey, the Party Reference pointed out on its social media page. As they wrote, the company's survey tried to make the "party preference life paths" of Tisza Party voters better known. The datasets published in IDEA's press release were intended to show the connections between the 2022 parliamentary and 2024 EP elections, but based on them, wrong conclusions were drawn about the voters of the Tisza Party.
A closer look at the survey data reveals significant contradictions, they pointed out.
It was announced that, according to IDEA data, 2022
- Ten percent of Fidesz voters,
- 47 percent of the voters of the left coalition voted for the Tisza this year,
- 18 percent among former Mi Hazánk voters,
- among MKKP voters, this rate is 42 percent,
-
and 16 percent of those who did not vote in the last parliamentary election became Tisza voters by June this year.
Using the actual results of the 2022 parliamentary election, based on the above percentages, it can be calculated that a total of almost one million eight hundred thousand voters should have voted for the Tiszá at the beginning of June this year, if we accept the results of the IDEA survey, they concluded.
The Party Reference pointed out: in reality, only one million three hundred and forty thousand people voted for Tisza in the EP election, which means a difference of more than four hundred thousand votes.
They explained that this discrepancy is extremely significant and indicates that the "reality check" of the survey was missed, the researchers did not properly compare the results with the real data.
As they wrote, such a big difference is not only a statistical error, but indicates that the reality of the results can be questioned from a professional point of view. According to them, in light of all this, the statements made by IDEA regarding the composition of the voters of the Tisza Party, such as:
43 percent of the voting base of the Tisza Party still supported the merger in 2022, and 28 percent did not participate in the last parliamentary election. 16 percent of its Hungarian supporters said they voted for Fidesz-KDNP in 2022.
The Party Reference stated: it is important that the results of public opinion polls published in the press, as well as their interpretation, provide readers and voters with accurate and reliable information. They emphasized that detailed professional mistakes and wrong conclusions not only undermine the credibility of research institutes, but can also mislead the public and even the actors of political life.
