The ranking was compiled according to special criteria.

Europe and Italy were at odds in the comparison, which ranked the most beautiful cities on earth based on an unusual aspect. Metropol reported .

The United Kingdom's Online Mortgage Advisor website has not ranked the world's most beautiful cities from a casual perspective this year either. The top list of the British was made on the basis that

how many buildings in the given city meet the "golden ratio".

This means that the buildings create a balanced and harmonious overall picture with the beauties of nature. According to this, nine of the ten most beautiful cities in the world are located in Europe. It is a surprise, however, that Bordeaux has overtaken Paris, and that no city from the island country is included in the ranking compiled by the British.

The first place was won by Venice. The Italian city was famous for its meandering canal system and eclectic architecture. According to the compilers of the ranking

more than 83 percent of Venetian buildings meet the golden ratio.

With its 82 percent result in the gold section, the silver medal also went to Italy: Rome became the winner in the "special competition" of the capital cities. Behind Rome, Barcelona made it to the podium: the Catalan city achieved a result that was only one percentage point lower than the eternal city. The fourth place was taken by another capital city, Prague, while according to the British, the fifth most beautiful city was New York, the only non-European city in the top ten.

From an architectural point of view, Budapest finished in seventh place, the Hungarian capital was preceded by the Greek capital, Athens, in sixth place. It also means that

Budapest can claim the prestigious fourth place in the competition of capital cities, which is a particularly good result in world terms.

The capital of Hungary overtook the capital of neighboring Austria, Vienna, which became the eighth. In ninth position is Bordeaux, which is a big surprise considering that it finished better than the French capital, Paris, which only got 12th place in this comparison. Milan was also included in the top ten, which means that the Italians are also represented by three cities among the most beautiful in the world.
