More than a hundred programs are waiting for visitors to the capital on the celebration of the founding of the state. The festive fireworks that close the St. Stephen's Day events will be accompanied by a spectacular light show, building painting and a drone show again this year. In our article, we have collected the most important information regarding the series of events.
Traditional state events form the backbone of the program offer in 2024 as well: the program of the August 20 holiday begins with the flag-raising and the St. Stephen's Day ceremony at 8 a.m., followed by an air parade from 9 a.m., and the festive event begins at 5 p.m. Holy Mass and the Holy Right Procession. At 9:00 p.m., the program ends with fireworks.
On August 20 on hirado.hu and on our Facebook page, we will broadcast live the St. Stephen's Day celebration and clean-up, the aerial parade, and the evening fireworks.
During the evening program, which is already considered a tradition and goes back several decades, twenty-nine thousand pyrotechnic effects light up the sky, they are fired from five hundred launch points on the Danube section between the Margit bridge and the Petőfi bridge, as well as on the Szabadság and Erzsébet bridges.
In the series of programs celebrating the founding of the state, those interested can choose from hundreds of programs at more than twenty event locations over three days.
In addition to the 14 mini-festivals, the street of Hungarian flavors and the Festival of Crafts featuring traditional folk crafts await families.

The Városliget is filled with "overwhelming big irons" and military programs
On August 20, those interested can get to know about 25 units of the Hungarian Armed Forces in the heart of Budapest.
In Budapest, the series of festive programs on August 20 began at 8:00 a.m. with a ceremony and clean-up on Kossuth Square. The air parade starts at 9 a.m. on the section between Lánchíd and Margit híd.
Before the real show, at 9:30 a.m., a detachment of three Gripen combat aircraft from the Kecskemét air brigade
performed a decorative parade over Kossuth Square on the occasion of the clean-up ceremony.
However, the series of national defense programs does not end there. The Hungarian Armed Forces reported on their Facebook page that
those interested can meet overwhelming heavy metal, including Lynx combat vehicles, Leopard 2A7HU tank , PzH2000 self-propelled gun and Gidrán combat vehicle, military tunes and modern handguns
among others from 10 a.m. in the City Park.
According to the post, passers-by can get to know the soldiers, equipment and tasks of their 25 formations.
