The Master of Folk Art award is a state award that can be awarded to folk artists who have achieved outstanding results in the development of folk art during their work over a longer period of time.

The prize, founded in 1953, can be awarded to ten people each year during the August 20 holiday round - before 2004, to seven per year.

The activities of the winners of the Master of Folk Art award have been added to the national list of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The 2024 awards were presented on August 16 in Pesti Vigado.

In recognition of his outstanding activity in the field of folk art, he was awarded the Master of Folk Art award:

• DEZSňNÉ BORBÉLY EMMA, folk weaver from Debrecen,

• DRUMMER RÓZSA, a traditional singer-dancer from Ozőrekecsin,

• DR. SÁNDORNÉ DULAI, folk embroiderer from Sada,

• ERZSÉBET LÁZLÓNÉ LÁZLÓZER FREML, a storyteller from Nagybörzsöny,

• JÓZSEF KACSÓ is a traditional folk dancer from Nyárádselye,

• MINORITS JÁNOSNÉ, maker of mud gear,

• JÁNOS NÉMETI, Balmazújváros traditional shepherd, singer,

• ISTVÁNNÉ PANDUR, an embroiderer and folk artist from Kalocsa,

• JÁNOS SZÁNTÓ, traditionalist folk musician from Magyarbece,

• LAJOSNÉ VERMES is a folk weaver from Palóc.
