The president of the Austrian Freedom Party (FPÖ) gave a lengthy interview to Austrian public television.

If Austria swings to the right in the upcoming national elections, Herbert Kickl wants to be chancellor and would certainly not introduce new taxes. The president of the Austrian Freedom Party (FPÖ) spoke about this in an interview. He emphasized that the entire current economic misery, not just inflation, is "home-made", that is, generated by the current government itself.

Kickl compared Austria's economy to a patient in an intensive care unit. He drew attention to the fact that the economy should not be further damaged and that everything should be done to keep businesses in the country and make them competitive again.

"We need to turn pessimism into optimism because what this government has done is causing entrepreneurs to leave the country"

he said. According to Kickl, the money used for this - about 17 billion euros per year - should be provided with a step-by-step plan.

The law banning political Islam, which the FPÖ has repeatedly demanded, would be much more effective than the general online monitoring of citizens, the president of the FPÖ opined about the security situation. According to him, with the help of this, action could be taken against someone not only if they are caught building a bomb, but also against anyone who swears allegiance to an Islamist terrorist organization.

The FPÖ has been in first place in public opinion polls for more than a year, and in connection with this, the party president said that it is not possible to win an election with surveys.

"Such surveys often serve as a tool for manipulation, where some supporters no longer go to vote because they think that everything is certain anyway. I don't pay much attention to that, I much prefer direct contact with people, where I can see and hear how people really feel"

said Herbert Kickl.
