This is the Hungarian delegation's first podium finish in the French capital.

Zsófia Konkoly won a gold medal in the 400-meter freestyle swimming in the S9 category at the Paris Paralympics on Thursday.

The 22-year-old competitor from Pécs - whose right arm did not develop properly - won his preliminaries in the morning and reached the evening finals with the second best time, in which he competed brilliantly and fought back against defending champion Lakeisha Patterson, who was second behind her three years ago. Now the Australian became the silver medalist.

Konkoly, the defending champion in the 100-meter butterfly in his third Paralympics, will also compete in the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly, as well as the 200 medley in Paris.
