The parents of the American movie star immigrated to the United States from the settlement of Szabolcs.

Fifty-five documentaries, short films and feature films will be available for free viewing at the Tony Curtis International Film Festival (TCIFF) in Mátészalka, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County, starting on Thursday, the organizers told MTI.

The three-day film festival, which will be organized for the first time, pays tribute to the memory of Tony Curtis, the world-famous Hollywood actor of Hungarian origin, whose father was born in the small town of Szatmár, and then his parents immigrated from here to the United States.

Jill Curtis-Weber, the actor's widow, will be the guest of honor at the event, which is supported by the Hungarian Hollywood Council, the Mátészalka municipality, Origo Filmstúdió and the National Film Institute, who will personally attend the opening of the festival and the award ceremony, the organizers announced.

Fifty-five films will be screened during the three days,

the public can see documentaries, shorts and feature films from seventeen countries, the works can be viewed free of charge in the local Zukor Adolf cinema from morning until evening.

At the event, the national finals of the Hungarian Hollywood competition will be held, where student teams will compare their film skills, present the Adolph Zukor Award, and lay a wreath at the Tony Curtis plaque.

The honoree will be able to meet the Hungarian and international film personalities invited to the festival in the framework of audience meetings and podium discussions.

They hold light music concerts and commemorate the two-time Oscar winner Dave Gould, born 125 years ago, Hungarian American choreographer, dance director, dance director of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film company.
