Britain's monarch has expressed her "shock" and "sadness" at severe flooding in central Europe, which has forced thousands to flee their homes.

The floods caused by Cyclone Boris caused billions of dollars in damage and at least 24 deaths across Europe. The water also claimed lives in Romania, Austria, Poland and the Czech Republic. Flooding is threatening new areas and around 1,000 people have been evacuated in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy due to heavy rain.

In this regard, the British monarch stated that he and his wife were "deeply shocked and saddened by the destruction caused by the catastrophic floods in Central Europe".

III. King Charles said: "Many people in the UK have a strong, lasting and personal connection to the region, and with them, my wife and I send our deepest and most sincere condolences to all those who have lost loved ones, homes and livelihoods in such a tragic way."

"We have enormous admiration for the bravery and dedication of the region's emergency services, who have clearly worked tirelessly to help the countless people whose lives and property have been horribly threatened," he said.
