Ferencváros suffered a 2-1 defeat at the home of Belgian Anderlecht in the opening round of the regular season of the European Football League on Wednesday. According to the head coach of FTC, the game was decided by small mistakes.

The home team took the lead in the 60th minute with a goal by Yari Verschaeren, and six minutes later Kasper Dolberg increased the lead from the penalty spot. Ferencváros, who played football with a man advantage in the beginning, improved in the 86th minute with a lucky strike by Adama Traoré, but the score did not change after that.

Ferencváros - which lost to a Belgian team in the European Cup for the first time in its history - will host Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League next Thursday at the Groupama Arena.

According to Pascal Jansen, Ferencváros head coach, small mistakes decided the match against Anderlecht. At the press conference following the match, the Dutch specialist said that in the first half there was an even fight on the field, but his players lacked determination, which resulted in a weaker finish to the attacks.

The coach pointed out that Anderlecht switched to a different tactic in the second half, but that his players basically responded well, however, the opponent scored two goals from two mistakes, which fundamentally changed the dynamics of the match.

As I already said after our match in Denmark, at this level the opponents will punish every little mistake - declared Pascal Jansen,

according to whom, after his team had a man advantage, he managed to play more dangerous football and score a goal, but in the last minutes the rival threw them out of rhythm with many small fouls.

"We are not yet where we want to be. We have to keep working to move step by step along the way,” noted the FTC trainer.
