This year, the area surrounding KRESZ Park and BalloonFly was renewed, and next year the green space behind the House of Hungarian Music will begin, as well as the construction of the new National Gallery as part of the Liget Budapest Project, said Benedek Gyorgyevics, CEO of Városliget Zrt., at a press conference.

As the latest development of the City Park, more than 3,000 square meters of green space around the balloon was renewed, the new road network was completed, new street furniture was installed, 1,500 different shrubs and plants were planted, and the area was colored with half a thousand perennials, the general manager pointed out. He added that with the construction of the National Gallery, " the closing stone will also be placed on the cultural developments of the park ".

Benedek Gyorgyevics recalled that more than ten years ago it was decided to increase and renew the entire green area of ​​the City Park from sixty to sixty-five percent. This was accomplished, and the number of revitalized park sections was also continuously increased year after year.

This year, with the renovation of the KRESZ Park, we renovated more than 30,000 square meters of green space, and with the current rehabilitation of the BallonFly environment, we have already exceeded the 270,000 renovated square meters in the City Park

Benedek Gyorgyevics said that the developments are also popular among visitors, as they see high utilization everywhere from the Városliget Playground to the Mőcsényi Mihály Botanical Garden, from the Városliget sports center to the dog adventure parks.

" The renovation of the built environment, the House of Hungarian Music, the Museum of Ethnography or the Museum of Fine Arts are all attractions that were also awarded last Saturday in Dubai, and received three tourism awards at the International Travel Awards ," he reminded.

Balázs Nagy, the CEO of BallonFly Zrt., recalled that more than two years ago, an aerial attraction that was very popular more than 120 years ago, ballooning in the city park, returned to the park more than two years ago. The Balloon lookout in Városliget, which evokes the iconic painting by Pál Szinyei Merse with its shape and color scheme, has now spent around 4,000 hours in the air, rising up around 11,000 times.

The deck has already provided a venue for live concerts and girl proposals, the twenty-meter long Olympic flag was raised with it, and thanks to the cooperation with Liget Budapest and the Bethesda Children's Hospital, children undergoing long-term recovery at the institution can ride the balloon for free.

The rehabilitation of the green surface of the City Park began in 2017. In the first phase, by 2018, the Hermina dog adventure park, the garden for the blind and the youth sports fields were renewed on a total of 25,000 square meters. Between 2018 and 2020, in the second phase covering more than 150,000 square meters of park space, the Rózsakert next to the Millennium House, the Great Playground, as well as the sports fields and the two-kilometer running circle were completed.

The Mőcsényi Mihály Botanical Garden has been reborn, along with the Piknik Garden, Királydomb and the Ajtós dog adventure park. In the third phase, realized between 2021 and 2023, the environment of the House of Hungarian Music and the Museum of Ethnography was renewed, the music playground was created and the green, flowery City Park Promenade connecting Heroes' Square and Dürer Row in Ajtós was created, and in the third phase a total of 90 thousand square meters a green surface was renovated or created.
