Ferencváros lost its second match in the regular season of the European Football League: the Hungarian champions lost 2-1 at home to Tottenham Hotspur, who are in the English Premier League, on Thursday.

The visitors took the lead in the 23rd minute with a goal by Pape Sarr, and in the 86th minute Brennan Johnson, who came on as a substitute, scored a goal off the post.

The green and whites improved in the 90th minute through Barnabás Varga, but just like last week at the home of the Belgian RSC Anderlecht, they could not score a point this time either.

Ferencváros will host the French club Nice in the third round on October 24.

The home fans welcomed the teams with a beautiful choreography depicting Europe, the inscription "Ferencváros above everything" and a deafening horn. The English started the clash with a strong reserve starter, several players who were only episodic characters in the Premier League were given a chance by Ange Postecoglu.

Ferencváros started with great momentum and dangerous actions - if Traoré was a little braver, he could have even walked to the goal after Abu Fani's long ball - Tottenham recovered after about ten minutes, first the young Lankshear had a huge jump, but from five meters over headed, then Dibusz saved Sarr's shot.

In the 16th minute, the stadium "exploded" for a moment, the green and whites started with Varga's cornering and led the way through perhaps the best action of the season.

Not long after, Tottenham immediately took advantage of a defensive error, and in the 33rd minute, Pedro Porro's flat shot hit the post. In the continuation, the islanders played more dangerous football, Ferencváros could only try with long balls, but the result did not change until the break.

A few minutes after the break, Saldanha's shot was saved by the visitors' goalkeeper, then the English had their moments, but the difference did not increase.

In the 64th minute, Tottenham countered a corner, but Werner chose the wrong solution. This was the last move of the German striker, Postecoglu then sent his three most valuable players, Kulusevski, Maddison and Johnson, onto the field at the same time. The game of the Londoners became more confident as a result, but they did not rest on the result, and this gave Ferencváros the opportunity for some counter-actions. In the 80th minute, Johnson hit the crossbar, Kady was able to head clear on the other side.

In this period, Ferencváros' game included the goal, but Johnson, who entered the field as a substitute, seemed to decide the match with a nice roll in the 86th minute.

In the 90th minute, Varga improved the game with a great move, but in the five-minute extra time, there were no more home chances.
