This is the third time this year.
A third assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump was thwarted at the last minute on Saturday when local police stopped a man armed with guns and fake IDs outside his Coachella Valley rally, the local sheriff said, reports the New York Post.
The suspect was apprehended about a mile from the rally site, according to police. He also had a loaded shotgun, a handgun, and a high-capacity magazine.
"We've probably foiled another assassination attempt," Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco said.
The suspect, identified as Vem Miller, was apprehended by police at a checkpoint about half a mile from the rally's entrance. He had fake press and VIP passes.
“They were different enough to alarm the police,” Bianco said, according to the Riverside Press-Enterprise.
According to Miller Bianco, he is a member of a right-wing anti-government organization and planned to kill Trump.
