The award is presented every year on László Grétsy's birthday, February 13, to a person or persons outstanding in their cultural, artistic and scientific dissemination activities.

The Foundation for Our Mother Tongue Culture is establishing the László Grétsy Prize, the National Service of the Republic of Serbia (OS) reported, quoting the foundation's statement.

The award, founded in memory of the well-known professor of linguistics who passed away in January this year at the age of 92, is presented every year on February 13, the birthday of László Grétsy, to a person or persons outstanding for their cultural, artistic and scientific dissemination activities.

The establishment of the award was initiated by linguist Miklós Blankó, president of the Foundation, and lecturer at the National Public Service University. The president of the board of trustees of the László Grétsy Award is Ildikó Piros, Kossuth and Mari Jászai award-winning actress, worthy artist, permanent member of the Society of the Immortals, regular member of the MMA.

The board of trustees of the award is committed to the care of László Grétsy's intellectual heritage, as well as to the cause of demanding native language culture and knowledge dissemination

The curators of the László Grétsy Prize are Zoltán Fráter, literary historian, associate professor, editor-in-chief of Magyaróra magazine; Gabriella Grétsy, doctor, daughter of László Grétsy; István Klinghammer, Academy Award-winning professor of cartography, former rector, honorary citizen of Budapest, regular member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences; Klára Kósa ceramic folk artist, meritorious artist, Master of Folk Art, regular member of the MMA; Ágnes Veszelszki is a linguist, associate professor, dean of the István Nemeskürty Teacher Training Faculty of the National Public Service University; Zsuzsa Vladár is a linguist, head of department, associate professor.
