receive a one-time financial recognition of HUF 200,000 net.
According to the decision, the four ministers responsible for the affected areas - the Minister of the Interior, the Minister of Energy, the Minister of National Defense and the Minister of Public Administration and Regional Development - were given a deadline of October 25 to assess who is entitled to the reward. For those concerned, the allowance will be paid immediately after the survey.
The work of the civil guards and volunteer firefighters is also recognized
The government decision also states that financial recognition will also be initiated for employees of other state bodies, if they were directly involved in flood protection or its management. In addition, it is the responsibility of the competent ministers to include, in justified cases, the members of the civil guards, volunteer firefighters and other firefighting organizations in the recognition, if they participated in the defense outside the area of competence of their organization.
Finance Minister Mihály Varga must secure the funds for the payments by October 31. In addition, the government also amended the SZJA Act by decree, referring to the war emergency, thus
the amount received from the Hungarian State Treasury will be tax-free for those participating in the defense.
In another decision, the government reallocates HUF 4.4 billion to the Ministry of Energy to cover the costs of flood control and water quality damage mitigation along the Danube and its tributaries in September 2024.
