After the meeting, the head coach of the green and whites, Pascal Jansen, revealed that he was of course happy with the victory, but he also saw his team's mistakes in the match.
“I told my players before the game that hard work pays off and it showed in the result. The boys followed the tactical instructions, I asked them to be brave, and up front, Varga and Traore played a big role in keeping the ball in the attacking third and creating dangerous situations.
We had good periods, but at the same time we made things difficult for ourselves several times, as we had hundreds of percentage points that we missed.
Regardless, I am very happy that we were able to win, especially against such a serious opponent. The team has had good matches before, but today against a quality opponent, the elements that reflect my philosophy were visible both with and without the ball. Nice played what we expected, they had weaknesses that we were able to exploit. Huge praise goes to the boys, because we really did what we wanted in advance," Jansen said.
Of course, Barnabás Varga was also happy about the victory in the Fradi battle, but he also felt a sense of loss.
We started the match very well, we created three or four chances in the first half, but unfortunately we only managed to score once.
We played very well and were able to control the game in the second half, today's match was absolutely fine. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to score a goal, but it's much more important that we got our first points, because we want to be among the teams that advance
Barnabás Varga was quoted by Magyar Nemzet .
Ferencváros won a vital match against Nice in terms of progression. He significantly improved his chances of continuing in the spring, because with this victory he is currently in the 23rd place in the table, which means progress, and he is waiting for the clash against Dinamo Kiev in Hamburg.
At Fradi, they calculate that they need to win three matches in the group stage of the Europa League in order to progress, that is, to be in the top 24.
The Hungarian champions have five more games to play in El. In addition to the mentioned Dynamo Kyiv, they will also play FF Malmö at home, PAOK Thessaloniki and Eintracht Frankfurt away, and finally they will close the group stage at home with Jansen's former team, AZ Alkmaar.
