It's not an easy stunt, even the experts had trouble capturing Timon, Báró and Bravo.

Wild horses were transported from the Pentezug Game Reserve to the Kondorfa Hegy-völgy Wild Area a few days ago, the Facebook page of the Hortobágy National Park Administration reported

They wrote that the purpose of the relocation of the animals is to create a larger stud in the research area in the Őrségi National Park, which is home to the European bison herd and two wild horses, and thus the animals that graze there manage the area in a more complex way, more similar to the natural one.

After a year of preparation, during which it was also necessary to consult with the Prague Zoo, which coordinates the international conservation work related to the species, specialists from the two national park directorates and veterinarians from the Capital Zoo and Botanical Garden visited the wild horse reserve of the Hortobágy National Park, where the

A stud of 280 individuals lives in semi-wild conditions.

The selected stallions were captured using stun bullets. The wild horses behaved more actively than usual on this day, you rarely let the capturing team within shooting range, which made the work of the specialists quite difficult.

First, an older stallion, Timon (8-year-old bachelor), was made suitable for transport, then Báró and Bravo (3-year-olds) were captured. The animals arrived at Őrségi National Park at night after a seven-hour journey.

They immediately felt at home, and the next day they wandered into their new home together with the two elderly specimens who had been living here for years.

According to the plans, five more wild horses are coming to the Kondorfa Hegy-völgy Wilderness Area, where experts are looking for the answer to the question of what the structure and composition of the habitats of the Guard might have been at a time when there were not humans, but primarily large herbivores , bison and wild horses shaped the landscape.
