Why do Romanian nationalists feel the need again and again to remember the "Romanian heroes" in a Hungarian military cemetery?
The members of the nationalist association Calea Neamului and the Orthodox Brotherhood gathered on Saturday at the military cemetery in Úzvölgy, where they organized a ceremony on the occasion of the Romanian Army Day, in the cemetery where it is known that the Romanian national defenders killed in the Second World War are not buried.
Tîrnoveanu visited the Úzvölgy cemetery on Thursday and encouraged his followers to participate in an on-site Facebook login. Participants came by car and bus, but according to a Facebook post published by Tîrnoveanu, the commemoration did not attract too many people.
It's not surprising that this year, too, music was blaring from loudspeakers, and Romanian military songs were also played at the event.
The president of the Calea Neamului Association, independent representative candidate Mihai Tîrnoveanu, previously said about the event that they are going to the cemetery with "peaceful intentions" to commemorate the Romanian heroes, as they have done every year since 2019 on Heroes' Day and Army Day.
