István Nagy considers the run amok of the Tisza Party to be a betrayal of the region.

I am amazed that the Péter Magyars declare that the European Union support must be withdrawn from grain production, and that only the cultivation of vegetables and fruits can be supported

- said Minister of Agriculture István Nagy in Kossuth radio's Vasárnapi huzáz program.

The minister said in the program that all the ministers of agriculture of the member states of the European Union agree to have a separate budget for the common agricultural policy, the two pillars of which, area-based support and rural development, guarantee that food sovereignty in Europe and our daily bread will be secured in the future as well. .

István Nagy considered it a huge success that 26 member states accepted the vision of the common agricultural policy of the union outlined by the Hungarian presidency. They are working to reach a full agreement on this issue by December, and then

"they put a document on the table that the committee will not be able to ignore".

Regarding the fact that the European Commission (EC) also commissioned a strategic document on the future of EU agriculture, István Nagy said that the former reflects the position of the ministers of agriculture, "people who walk with two feet on the ground" , while the latter was prepared by a professor who "has a lot to do with not for agriculture" . He added: they prepared their separate proposal because the document commissioned by the EC is unacceptable to many countries, including Hungary, and the economic community.

Anyone who is outside the field of agriculture does not understand why it is important that farmers receive support for every area they cultivate. There are many areas that, on an economic basis, would not make sense to cultivate without support

he explained.

He noted: in order to lower food prices and make them affordable, subsidies are necessary. He said that the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) is the oldest common policy of the EU, which affects all citizens of Europe. According to István Nagy, the problem occurs when the balance is disturbed, tasks are labeled with the subsidies that "distract" the economic or competitiveness part. Among them, he mentioned the excessive controls "from the farm to the table" or the "immeasurable green ideological pressure" affecting agricultural production or the accusation that European farmers are responsible for climate change.

The Minister of Agriculture believed that after the EU elections, "madness will gain new strength" , which, according to him, could lead to the loss of competitiveness of European agriculture.

"I am amazed to see that the Péter Magyars assist with this, accept these, and even stand at the head of this process, and declare that support must be withdrawn from grain production, and that only the cultivation of vegetables and fruits can be supported"

- said the head of the ministry, which he considers to be a complete mistake and a betrayal of the countryside. He noted that this would cause such a degree of disadvantage to the countryside, and would mean a degree of price increase in the food industry, which is unimaginable.

According to István Nagy, this cannot be allowed to happen, it must be prevented

"From Péteres Magyar, Tisza partisan, from everyone who fights against the future of Hungarian farmers and the Hungarian countryside".

The head of the ministry drew attention to the fact that "every grain of grain in the world is needed" , but it can also be seen that if the grain market is disrupted and the raw material production of agriculture turns upside down, then "there are countries that use grain as a weapon". He explained:

the safety of the food supply must not be jeopardized. Hungary is fighting with all its might to protect Hungarian farmers and the interests of the Hungarian people, the national government always has this in mind, it is looking for allies for this, and that is why the package of proposals was prepared.

István Nagy called it a great pleasure that this was accepted, and that the document will be on the table of the new agricultural commissioner. He drew attention to the deadline of June 2025, when the free trade agreement ends, and answers must be given to questions such as whether Ukrainian grain will arrive with or without customs duties, whether it will arrive in limited or unlimited quantities, as well as what will be the area-based, the with animal welfare or production-related subsidies - he listed.
