According to the vice-president of the European Commission, who is considered Hungarianophobic, corruption is not dealt with enough in Hungary, so no matter how much he wants to support non-Fidesz voters, he cannot.
Vera Jourová, the soon-to-be-departing vice-president of the European Commission, told Euractiv that it was heartbreaking for her to deal with the rule of law disputes in Poland.
In the interview, he stated that Hungary primarily caused him a headache, but his heart also ached because he could not send money to the Hungarians.
According to Jourová, they cannot receive money until they deal "enough" with the fight against corruption.
He added that this situation also caused him heartache because not everyone voted for Viktor Orbán, but the EU funds could help the Hungarians - this could even mean that the vice-president would only support non-Fidesz voters if he could.
Péter Szijjártó previously described the Czech politician as suffering from severe Hungarianophobia and looking down on Hungarian people.
