Balázs Hankó spoke about the need to double the family tax allowance.
In order to promote the financial security of families, it is necessary to double the family tax allowance, the minister responsible for culture and innovation said on Thursday to Kossuth radio Good morning, Hungary! in his show.
Balázs Hankó indicated that the tax discount would be increased in two steps: first in the summer of next year, and in the next step in January 2026.
He said that this tax benefit is the one that covers the most widely, and the tax package already includes a proposal for this.
The minister stated that the discount is a family policy measure that helps to have children. "We explicitly and forcefully represent the value of the family in such a way that while others want to solve demographic issues with migration, we strengthen and support families," said Balázs Hankó.
Referring to the national consultation that started this week, he added that as much support as possible is needed so that they can stand up for the family policy measures that Brussels opposes.
Regarding the worker's loan, the head of the ministry emphasized that family policy appears in this area as well. He said that if the woman taking out the loan becomes a mother, she will get a two-year deferment in repayment. Fifty percent of the debt is waived for the birth of the second child, and the entire amount for the third child.
Balázs Hankó explained in connection with housing support for young people that it is clear that more dormitories are needed. He underlined that, if there is sufficient support, a dormitory program will be launched in Budapest and in rural university towns as well, since the over-subscription exceeds ten thousand people.
They are also planning to introduce a discounted loan scheme, which would help young people acquire a home. In addition, the consultation also includes a question regarding whether companies that support their employees' housing should receive a tax discount. Furthermore, this also includes the possibility of using the amounts on the SZÉP card for home renovation.
The minister stated that the European Union wants to eliminate the identity of nations, which is why national consultation is important for the government. With the support of the Hungarian people, we can tell Brussels to stop! Balázs Hankó added.
He said that they are ready to fight for the thirteenth monthly pension, "which Brussels wants to take away in the same way as the results achieved in reducing utilities".
The head of the ministry stated that in the national consultation, with the support of pensioners, young people and families, they can provide discounts that "forge us into a strong nation" and further strengthen the economy.
