László Mátus donated his honorarium entirely to the benefit of Zomba: for local development, social support and the organization of community events.
Among the settlements in Tolna county, the largest number of people ran for mayor in the 2024 local government election in Zomba. Out of the six candidates, László Mátis got the most votes, so he became the new mayor of the settlement, teol.hu .
After a long career as an engineer, the head of the village accepted the mandate from the voters as a social mandate, and without asking for any other income, he spends his mayor's honorarium on the development of the community.
This community has given me so much, so it's natural for me to donate my honorarium entirely to Zomba. I would like to use the amount for local developments, social support, or even for the organization of community events that make the village more livable
László Mátis told the portal.
The mayor's undisclosed goal is to lure young people back to the settlement, because they represent the future of Zomba. He wants to create a community that provides them with a long-term home and opportunities.
