The threads of the scandal can even reach the left-wing local government.
According to press reports, a separate police procedure is taking place as a sideline of the Újbuda pedophile case that shook the entire country. The ongoing investigation into suspected abuse of public office was preceded by a report, according to which a pedagogical assistant suspected of raping a kindergarten child was able to avoid being caught for a long time thanks to his foster mother, who works in a prominent position at the local government.
and in the current, separate procedure, it may also be clarified whether the DK-led municipality has any involvement in the scandal.
Memorably, some months ago, information came to light that a pedagogical assistant in Újbuda approached the kindergarten children assigned to him.
The Budapest Police Headquarters (BRFK) began to investigate, and then the pedagogical assistant, Péter Gy., was taken into custody. The court later ordered the man's arrest, and the place of detention is currently the Judicial Monitoring and Psychiatric Institute (IMEI). The kindergarten employee, who has since been fired, is suspected of the crime of sexual violence against a person under the age of 12.
According to press reports, the pedagogical assistant may have had sex with a small child in the washroom of the kindergarten.
In a previous court order, however, it is also stated that the suspect may have committed sexual violence against several kindergarteners under his supervision.
In addition to all this, István Tényi also appealed to the authorities with suspicion of abuse of public office. The complaint stated, among other things, that the parents had been suspicious of Péter Gy., who worked in a kindergarten in the left-wing municipality, for a long time.
The parents of a little boy reported the problem to the kindergarten teachers, and then to the head of the institution, but since the foster mother of the suspect works in an important position at the DK municipality led by Imre László, they allegedly did not dare to take action against her.
According to the police's previous information, the content of the report has been examined in the investigation of the pedophile case, but on Monday, when asked by the Magyar Nemzet, they wrote that "in the ongoing investigation you mentioned, a case was isolated, in which the investigation is ongoing due to the suspicion of abuse of public office. No questioning of the suspect took place in this procedure".
Otherwise, this crime is committed when the person performing a public duty (which includes, for example, nursery teachers and the head of the institution) who, in order to cause an unlawful disadvantage or obtain an unlawful advantage, violates his duty related to the public duty or exceeds this authority, or abuses his position as a public official. Up to three years of imprisonment can be imposed for all of these.
