The new legislation finally recognizes the rights of the passengers and the obligations of the service provider state without any debate. This right ensures that, by making travel easier, Hungarian people can reach the transportation centers closest to their place of residence in a more convenient, cheaper, faster and safer way.

"We are making access to public transport a basic right for all Hungarians," the Ministry of Construction and Transport (ÉKM) told MTI on Tuesday.

According to the announcement, a new law will soon regulate passenger transport services in Hungary, which gives and does not take away, guarantees a minimum, rather than reduced services. Without any exaggeration, the new legislation regulating and assisting the public transport of Hungarian people may be presented to the parliament in the second half of November, and then adopted, as the main code of passenger transport rights.

The purpose of the new transport constitution is to provide a framework for the safe, efficient and sustainable operation of passenger transport services, taking into account technological development and environmental aspects.

The new legislation finally recognizes the rights of the passengers and the obligations of the service provider state without any debate. This right ensures that, by making travel easier, Hungarian people can reach the district centers closest to their place of residence in a more convenient, cheaper, faster and safer way, they wrote.

In the case of 350 of Hungary's 3,155 settlements, it is currently not ensured that passengers can get from there to the district center or from the district center to their place of residence with 3 daily flights. The new law ensures this as a fundamental right, as it precisely regulates the mandatory minimum of the possibility of getting from the district centers to the county seats and the capital, explained the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

The new legislation also ensures public transport in places where it has not worked in any form so far.

Pursuant to the law, the state guarantees the mobility of people and the enforcement of sustainability aspects at the same time, they added.

In order to ensure citizens' access to public services, it is necessary to provide basic care in emergencies and strikes. Flights marked in advance as part of the basic service cannot therefore be canceled even in the event of a strike. In this way, the most important flights that ensure commuting to work or that are most used by students will be available to passengers even in the event of a strike, the announcement states.

Previously, the government of Hungary made public transport affordable for everyone, now it makes it accessible and simpler for everyone - stresses the ÉKM.
