Simon Petra, manager of the Ferencváros national team, was voted the best young female handball player of the year by the European Federation (EHF).

The EHF website's report on Tuesday recalls that the 20-year-old player made his debut in the senior team of Ferencváros in 2022. He spent the following season on loan at MTK, but returned to FTC for the 2023/24 season, made his debut in the Champions League, in which he scored a total of 39 goals, and in the spring became champion and Hungarian Cup winner.

Last year, he won the European Youth Championship, where he was also elected the best player of the tournament and the manager of the dream team. In the final, he scored eight times and provided five assists.

He has already played in 25 matches in the adult national team, was there at last year's World Championship, at this year's Olympics, and is also a member of the squad preparing for the European Championship, which will start on November 28 and will be held partly in Hungary.

Simon will receive the award on December 14 in Vienna, at the EHF gala evening.
