Elon Musk took on another honorary title when he joined the MAGA ceremony at Mar-a-Lago in the company of Donald Trump: he will be the "Gyorgye Soros of the right," The Daily Beast reported .
The newly appointed Musk, who will soon head the Department of Government Efficiency, visited the White House with President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday. Back at Trump's Florida estate, they made a surprise appearance at the A1Policy conference, where
Musk immediately came forward after a speaker asked, "Where's the right's George Soros?"
The Hungarian-American "philanthropist" billionaire, who used his fortune to support a number of progressive goals, has long been disliked by the right.
In 2023, Musk called it Soros in a Twitter post
"he wants nothing less than the destruction of Western civilization".
According to the American newspaper, Trump himself took the stage and jokingly referred to Musk as his "first friend".
"Elon's not going home," Trump joked. “I can't get rid of it. Until I get bored.”
Afterwards, the pair performed "God Bless America" with opera singer Chris Macchio. However, according to The Daily Beast author, there was a "glaring problem": the South African-born Musk didn't seem to really know the lyrics to the song.
