The Hungarian national football team played a 1-1 draw with the German team at the Puskás Arena on Tuesday in the last round of the top division of the Nations League.

The national team was a worthy and equal opponent of its better rival throughout, which took the lead from a rebound through Felix Nmecha in the 76th minute.

At the last moment, Dominik Szoboszlai equalized from the 11, who was judged for a handshake, so the Hungarians' domestic unbeaten streak has lasted for 13 games.

The meeting did not affect the final result of the group: the Germans reached the quarterfinals as group winners, while the Hungarian team finished third.

Federal captain Marco Rossi also inaugurated a new player in the person of Zsombor Gruber, who was replaced in the summer.

The Hungarian national team will next play in March against one of the second-placed teams in Division B in the classification, the first act of which will be the national team's thousandth official match. The draw on Friday will reveal whether Austria, Greece, Ukraine or Turkey will be its rivals.

76th minute: Schlotterbeck headed Wirtz's corner from the left at the goal from close range, and although Dibusz still defended it with his foot, Nmecha hit the rebound from one meter into the goal (0-1).

95-99. minute: Kata shot twice from the left at a defender, but the second time it hit the hand of the turning Koch, so the referee awarded 11 with the help of the video referee. Summoning Panenka, Szoboszlai spun the ball into the middle of the goal, while the German goalkeeper missed to the right (1-1).

Before the start of the match, the full audience of the Puskás Arena cheered for the pitch coach Ádám Szalai, who three days ago got sick in the seventh minute of the match in the Netherlands, because of which the game was stopped for almost a quarter of an hour. The former team captain did not even sit on the bench this time.

That is why, before the game, the manager of the guests, Julian Nagelsmann, handed over to his colleague, Marco Rossi, the shirt bearing Szalai's name, which was signed by all the German players, and the message on it: Get better!

From the first minute, the Germans played football with a great advantage, leading dangerous and dynamic actions one after another, but the Hungarian defense stood in the way, so the rival could not develop a situation. On the other hand, coach Marco Rossi's students were no longer able to attack, and the home team only occasionally crossed the halfway line. After a quarter of an hour, the Hungarians got out of the grip, so they reached the opponent's goal, Nübel had to defend for the first time in the 23rd minute, when he blocked Schäfer's shot.

In the 15 minutes before the break, Nationalelf was in control again, Henrichs had a dangerous free kick that missed the goal, and apart from that, the Hungarian defenders usually blocked the shots, meaning Dibus had nothing to do in the entire first half, except for a few passes. On the other hand, Nübel had another save when Zsolt Nagy jumped out, i.e. even though the Germans had much more of the ball, the Hungarians still threatened more.

At the beginning of the second half, the field was slightly divided, both sides easily passed through the midfield, so the dangerous actions followed one after the other, as a result of which Dibusz first saved the attempt of Gosens, who came on as a substitute, in the 50th minute. In this period, the Hungarian finishes did not reach the goal, while the Germans also scored a goal, but Brandt received the ball off guard. With the three changes made by the guests in the 61st minute, world class players such as Musiala, Wirtz and Havertz were sent onto the field, the latter almost immediately hitting the left post with a shot. At the same time, the Hungarian counterattacks also remained effective, at the end of an exemplary Sallai-Varga interplay, Nübel saved the latter's shot in the corner with a huge feat, who then had to be smart when Szoboszlai curled the corner kick into the goal.

For a long time, it seemed that the match would be decided by Nmecha, who scored for the first time in his career in a crested shirt after a guest corner. However, in the first half, the Hungarians did everything they could to equalize, and their efforts were crowned with success at the last moment, because Szoboszlai confidently sold the penalty awarded for handling.
