The Civil Solidarity Forum (CÖF) - Civil Solidarity Non-profit Foundation (CÖKA) recommends multinational companies operating in Hungary and businesses involved in food trade to expand their delivery portfolio, the organization's spokesperson said at a press conference in Budapest on Wednesday.

Jr. Zoltán Lomnici said that the multinational companies should include rural settlements that are abandoned in this sense

Hungarian people must have access to basic food in the smallest villages, he emphasized.

He noted that in some small regions of Hungary, where there are no stores or grocery stores, they are trying to supply the people living there with basic food using methods that raise the suspicion of legal violations.

He reminded her that although there were countless efforts in the last 14 years that gave the multinational companies the opportunity to resolve the problem peacefully, it did not happen.

Norbert Heizler, the operational director of CÖF-CÖKA, said: it is considered unacceptable that a multinational company is organizing against the state because of the special tax on food, instead of negotiating with the Hungarian government.

Disputes that can be settled in Hungary should be settled in Hungary, secret discussions should not be held in Brussels

he emphasized.

In his opinion, Spar is probably using creative accounting to show that they operate at a loss in Hungary.

Regarding the food supply of the small settlements, the director highlighted that the state helped the population with significant sums, among other things, with the tenders of the Hungarian village program, so that they could buy locally.

" It's time for the wholesale chains to step in to help the countryside ," he noted.

Where a local grocery store cannot be run profitably, people should be provided with home delivery or mobile shops - he explained the organization's proposal.

As he said, the measures can improve the standard of living of small settlements, which has a positive effect on the retaining power of the countryside. It is possible that home delivery or the mobile store will not be economical at first, but if it becomes regular and predictable, it can also generate profit, he noted.
