Ominous news came from the war in Ukraine, so I convened the Defense Council, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in a video uploaded to Facebook on Wednesday.

"It's Wednesday morning, there are ominous news from the war in Ukraine, so I called the Defense Council. We are facing the most dangerous two months of the war. With the victory of President Trump, peace has come tangibly close, or at least a ceasefire, but the pro-war government is still in power in the United States for two months. What this means in practice is that yesterday the Ukrainians fired long-range missiles into Russian territory, and the Russians responded by adopting a stricter nuclear doctrine. I listened to the report of the Defense Council. The danger of escalation, the spread of war, has never been so great.

In the coming weeks and months, all of Hungary's knowledge, means, and diplomatic experience will be needed to stay out of this war. Because Hungary must stay out of this war"

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in the video.

As is known, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán convened a meeting of the Defense Council for Wednesday morning due to the latest developments in the war in Ukraine and the increased risk of escalation of the conflict.

In the Carmelite monastery, the prime minister, the relevant ministers, secretaries of state, the national security advisor and the chief of staff review the war situation after Washington gave permission: they can now use Western weapons against deep Russian territories.
