The scandal related to the house of member of parliament Bence Tordai erupted in the summer of 2022, after Metropol wrote that the politician bought a plot of land in II. in the district, on which an old farmhouse stood - Magyar Nemzet .
The paper also drew attention to the fact that Tordai demolished this building, and set up the construction as if only a transformation and renovation had taken place.
This trick was probably necessary because he could not get a building permit for the new building due to strict regulations.
However, even with a layman's eye, it can be concluded that the newly erected building does not resemble the old one in any way.
Magyar Nemzet reported that following the activities of István Tényi, who is known for his public interest announcements, the Budapest Regional Investigative Prosecutor's Office, which is subordinate to the Central Investigative General Prosecutor's Office (KNYF), began investigating the real estate case.
According to press reports, the investigation was finally conducted by the Budapest Police Headquarters due to abuse of office.
From the beginning, Bence Tordai denied that he had committed any irregularity or illegality, but it turned out to be an unfavorable sign for him that Gergely Őrsi II. the MSZP mayor of the district tried to distance himself from his actions, saying that "everyone must comply with the laws".
In August 2022, the government office already established the fact of the irregularity. Even in the court stage of the case, there was no favorable verdict for Bence Tordai: first, the Capital Court, and then in May of this year, the Kúria decided that the politician had built illegally.
"He was building illegally and irregularly, so the construction authority of the Budapest Capital Government Office obliged Bencé Tordai to
within six months, demolish the irregularly built II. district property"
- announced the government office at the request of the Hungarian Nation, which Mandiner .
