The defamation case is already in court, but the Tisza Party chairman will also be suspected of theft by the prosecutor's office if the European Parliament issues the politician's immunity.
Péter Magyar's head may be in pain not only because of his theft case, but also because of at least one other criminal proceeding - it was revealed in the response of the Metropolitan Court to Magyar Nemzet last week. The leader of the Tisza Party and his EP representative are being prosecuted in the II. and III. In the District Court, according to our information, for defamation.
However, the court has not yet proposed the suspension of immunity in the case.
In other words, a private prosecution case simply means that in less serious cases, not the prosecutor's office, but the victim himself can represent the prosecution in court. Examples of such cases are light bodily harm, breach of privacy, breach of correspondence, defamation, defamation and breach of pardon.
It is conceivable that parallel to the above, there is also another private prosecution proceeding against Magyar, which can be inferred from the statement of the President of the European Parliament a few days ago.
Roberta Metsola spoke about the fact that in November, Hungarian immunity was invoked in a new case. It is certain, however, that the request was not submitted by Chief Prosecutor Péter Polt, the General Prosecutor's Office informed the Hungarian Nation about this. Thus, if it is an act in Hungary (in fact, the President of the EP spoke about it), it is only possible that the court requested immunity as part of a private prosecution.
It is not yet known what kind of case it is in the latter case.
Private prosecutions are, of course, dwarfed by the infamous five-yard theft case at the Central Investigative General Prosecutor's Office (KNYF), which is why the chief prosecutor initiated the suspension of the opposition politician's immunity from the President of the European Parliament in September.
In recent days, Magyar, who has been in the spotlight due to the audio recording scandal, allegedly took the phone of a man who was filming him in a downtown nightclub and threw it into the Danube. According to eyewitnesses, the opposition politician was also drunk, and eventually the security guards had to escort him out of the disco.
