Justice Minister Bence Tuzson called an extraordinary press conference for Friday morning regarding the salary increase of judges and judicial employees, as well as making the justice system more efficient.

Bence Tuzson began his press conference by saying that they agreed with the National Court Office, the National Council of Judges and the President of the Court that in the next period, several changes will be implemented in the operation of the court organization in order to increase efficiency. The goal is to make the functioning of the courts more efficient and for the Hungarian people to reach an appropriate and fair decision as quickly as possible. The agreement has several elements.

The minister explained about the history, in the past year he went to almost all the courts to meet with the management there. He also met with the leadership of the bar associations, in order to discuss what the judicial organization and the legal profession need. Bence Tuzson thanked all those he met for the many professional opinions that helped them reach the agreement.

The agreement also includes a serious salary increase.

Incomes will be increased in several steps until 2027, as a result of which the judges' income will increase by 48 percent. The income of court secretaries and draftsmen increases by 82 percent on average. The income of other court employees will increase by one hundred percent.

An average judge's income will be HUF 2.2 million. The income of court secretaries and drafters is HUF 1.1 million, while that of other court officials reaches HUF 850,000. The wage increase is multi-step, incomes will increase from January 1, 2025, January 1, 2026, and January 1, 2027.

More efficient and faster administration

They also agreed on organizational changes that will speed up the operation of the courts. The online presence would also be strengthened so that everyone does not necessarily have to go to the courts. They have also concluded several agreements that can help fast and efficient administration, such as the procedure for company proceedings, which can largely become an administrative procedure, as a result of which they can introduce automatic decision-making.
