The Wesselényi gala, which has become a tradition, was held in Szilágyság again this year.
On Thursday afternoon, the Wesselényi gala was held for the sixth time in front of a large audience in the Vigadó building in Zilah, at which community builders working for the preservation and development of the local Hungarian community were rewarded with the Wesselényi Award.
Member of Parliament Seres Dénes said that the Wesselényi Award was established in 2017 as a way of expressing gratitude and appreciation to those who have worked hard for Hungarians in Szilágyság in recent years and decades.
"We thought that every community should nominate people who we can thank for their enthusiastic work and their effective activities over many, many years, because they took part in community building"
said the representative. By presenting the award, they created a tradition, this year 27 people and 16 students were awarded.
Wesselényi awardees
At the event, Anna Bálint, a teacher from Szilágysámson, received the Wesselényi Award, who introduced hundreds of children to the magical world of reading, writing, and arithmetic during her work. He is an active member of the local community from a young age to the present day; László-Zoltán Balogh, founding member of the RMDSZ of Sarmaság and the Sarmasági Hírmondó, president of the Bányavirág Retired Club of Sarmaság; Lajos-István Bara, director of the Zilahi Wesselényi College, chief guardian of the Reformed Church District of Királyhágómellék; István Bernáth, mayor of the village of Szilágybagos, president of the Szilágyborzás RMDSZ; Ferenc-István Bogdán, mayor of Debren village; Csaba Bóné, deputy mayor of Haraklány village, president of the Magyar-Goroszló organization of RMDSZ; Bertalan Csáki from Szilágyerked, who helps the village to survive and rise with good ideas, suggestions, and dedicated work. One proof of this is that he and his wife are raising four children.
Elemér Csíki from Sílágyzování, leader of the Márvirágok and Ciberke Folk Dance Group, Éva Csiki from Sílágynayfalu, school principal, pillar member of the local organization, also received an award. Zsigmond Dobai from Kárásztelek, a pillar member of the Kárászteleki organization of the RMDSZ, who dreamed up and operated the local cable TV station KUREC TV for 14 years, Melinda Dragos from Warsaw, the founder and former president of the local women's organization of the RMDSZ, Benjámin Dull from Sílágyfókeresztúr, the The president of the local organization of RMDSZ, local councilor, Filip Gyöngyi-Hajnalt, who with dedication, perseverance and loving work, he dedicated his life to education in Szilágyperecsen for 45 years.
Zsigmond Gombos from Szilágylompért, founding member of the local RMDSZ, president of the organization from Szilágylompért for twenty-four years, former local councilor and deputy mayor in the village of Sarmaság, received the Wesselényi award; Imre Kiss from Szilágyballa, who was a local councilor, community person, and church leader in the 1990s, helped the local team of the RMDSZ with his advice and objective view after he did not undertake active community work; Gyula Moni, founding member of the RMDSZ Szilágycsehi organization; Miklós Nagy is a retired Zilahi teacher, a pillar member of the Zilahi organization of the RMDSZ; Miklós Oláh from Kraszna, who is known to most people as a mathematics teacher, but thanks to his diverse activities, he also created in other areas of life. Former correspondent of the Szilágyság weekly newspaper, former RMDSZ president, local and county councilor; István Petkes from Désháza, president of the local RMDSZ, local councilor for several years, former active member of the HKT for many years; former HKT member Béla Püsök from Szilágypanit, who worked helpfully and persistently for the community for 28 years, Sárközi Hajnal from Zsibo, a biology teacher, always worked to promote the future of children with her work. He was a founding member of the Wesselényi Society, organizer and supporter of the Vörösmarty recitation competitions, active RMDSZ member, supporter and organizer of the events.
Erzsébet Sólyom, a teacher from Sarmaság, founding member of RMDSZ, who actively participates in the life of the organization, vice-president of the Bányavirág retirement club from Sarmaság, also received an award. Ilona Soós, who does outstanding pedagogical work in Kindergarten No. 2 in Zsibo.
He was the first to introduce flute education in the kindergarten in Zsibo, which not only provided the children with musical education, but also served to sensitize them to culture. He organized many performances in which the children actively participated, thus developing their creativity and self-expression. He advocated the introduction of the daycare program in the Hungarian section. An award was given to Gyula Szabó from Kémer, who worked for the local community and was a former local and county councillor; András Szilágyi is a local councilor in Szilágyballa, a pillar member of the local community and the local organization of the RMDSZ, "the man we can always count on"; Inka Tyukodi from Mocsolya, president of the local Women's Organization, local councilor in Szilágysámson village, active member of the community; and Annamária Vida, teacher from Szilágysomlyo, former school principal.
