Fidesz-KDNP has a significant advantage of 12 percentage points over the Tisza Party, according to the Hungarian Social Researcher's survey.
According to recent research by the Hungarian Sociologist, Fidesz-KDNP continues to confidently lead the popularity contest of the parties. Among the entire adult population, the support of the government parties is 38 percent, while the second-placed Tisza Party reaches only 26 percent.
This shows that even a year and a half before the next parliamentary elections, the social embeddedness of Fidesz is stable.
Among active voters who can choose a party, the difference is smaller, but even so, Fidesz-KDNP shows an eight percentage point advantage (45 percent), while the Tisza Party stands at only 37 percent.
Thus, the electoral activity of Péter Magyar's party is not enough to approach the support of the governing parties.
In a recent election, four parties would cross the five percent entrance threshold:
• Fidesz–KDNP: 45 percent
• Tisza Party: 37 percent
• Mi Hazánk Movement: 6 percent
• Hungarian Kétfarkú Kutya Party: 6 percent
The other parties, including the Democratic Coalition, fall significantly short of the level required for entry, which indicates a serious reorganization on the left.
The telephone survey was conducted on November 19–22, 2024, by asking a thousand people. between. The sample is representative of the population over the age of 18 according to gender, age, region, type of settlement and educational level. The research worked with a sampling error of ±3.16 percent.
The strong social support and mobilizing capacity of Fidesz-KDNP, which has been built up over many years, is also showing itself now. Their advantage not only secures their current position, but can also represent a serious reserve for the 2026 parliamentary elections.
Based on the numbers, the dominance of the governing parties remains unbroken, while the Tisza Party and other opposition forces still have a lot of work to do if they want to tighten the competition.
